1. Read verses 17-19. What did the disciples ask Jesus? Why? How did Jesus instruct his disciples? What did he mean by “my appointed time?” Why did Jesus want to eat the Passover with his disciples? (Luke 22:14-16)

2. Read verses 20-25. While they were eating, what did Jesus tell his disciples? How did they respond? What does it mean that the “Son of man will go just as it is written about him”? (26:2) Why did Jesus give warning against the man who was to betray him? How did Judas respond? What did Jesus say?

3. Read verses 26-28. What did Jesus do? What does it mean that he gave thanks? (Two times) What do the bread and blood and the eating and drinking of them represent? (John 6:35, 53-56) Why did Jesus carry out this symbolic act? (Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

4. What does Jesus’ blood of the covenant signify? (28; cf. Exodus 24:6-8; Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 9:13-15)?

5. Read verses 29-30. What other promise did Jesus give his disciples? How does the Lord’s Supper connect us to Christ? What does Jesus’ blood of the covenant mean to you personally?
